Counselling and psychotherapy are professional services that support people to develop better understanding of themselves and others, address life’s difficulties, and make changes they want in their lives.
Service Aims
Canberra Professional Counselling aims to support people to developed better understanding of themselves and others; and the factors affecting life’s difficulties; identify strengths and find solutions, develop skills and make changes toward resilience and improving their wellbeing in their lives.

The principal of Canberra Professional Counselling is Jan Jolly. Jan is a University of Canberra, post-graduate qualified; and Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), registered counsellor and psychotherapist. She is also a qualified health educator, and trained 'Circle of Security' COS-P facilitator.
She has over two decades of experience working with individuals and young families and groups in community health, mental health promotion, and education.
Counselling occurs in a confidential and warm space, in the comfortable rooms at Arthritis ACT, in Holder ACT
Over a series of individual sessions of around 60 mins, the counsellor works in partnership with the client/s to provide flexible and integrated professional therapy and education, according to their needs.
Recognised approaches might include: Person-centred; Solution-focused brief; Self-Management; Adlerian brief; Cognitive and Behavioural; Mindfullness; Psycho-education

This service also has a special interest in assisting persons experiencing complex and chronic health and disability conditions, and early parenting and life issues.

'A Carer's Road to Wellbeing'
An exciting new course for Carer's of loved ones and friends with long-term conditions and disabilities. Conducted in 1.5 hour sessions over 6 weeks, in a supportive & confidential small group environment, participants can share their experiences & understandings, and develop solution-focused & self-management resources & skills to develop a personal plan for their own wellbeing.
Costs: $60 Members of Arthritis ACT & SHOUT affiliated organisations. $120 non-members of the above.
‘Thinking and Feeling Good’
A solution and self-management group for wellbeing run for 1.5 hours per week, for six weeks. Persons with chronic illness and disability are invited, along with other community members. Call for further information & to register interest.
‘Circle of Security – COS - P’
A relationship based parenting program run for 1.5 hours over 8 weeks. An option of additional 30 min sessions for support and resources will be available for those with special needs, including chronic illness and disability.
